HISTORIA
Peter Sisseck is Pingus. Agricultural engineer and oenologist born in 1962 in Copenhagen, he studied at the University of Bordeaux and worked for several years in important wineries in the area. Together with his uncle, Peter-Vinding-Diers, he initiated what is known as the new wave of Bordeaux white wines. He has worked in California, in Spain he works as a winemaker and advisor at Hacienda Monasterio (also in Ribera del Duero) and in France he shares with his friend Silvio Denz the Château Rocheyron project, in Saint Émilion, Bordeaux. Pingus is born from the assembly of very special grapes from different Tinto Fino plots. These precious payments are located 30 km from Roa. The San Cristóbal vineyard has an area of ??1.2 hectares and the oldest vines (70 years); In the estate named Barrosso there are two vineyards, one of 2.5 hectares with vines that are also old, 60 years old, and another younger one, of only 1 hectare. The soils are clay with some lime, covered with stones. Selective collection and subsequent classification of the best beans on a selection table in the winery. Thorough microvinification and aging in special barrels. During the process, the wine is not subjected to clarification or filtration to fully respect its qualities. The years 1996, 2000, 2001 and 2003 were the first great vintages of Pingus, until the extraordinary 2004, with which it received the first 100 points from critic Robert Parker. Although in general, all Pingus are great wines, marked by good intensity, fine, fatty, with great breadth on the palate, good structure and aging potential. Peter Sisseck today produces two other wines at Dominio de Pingus: the equally coveted one, especially for its price but also for its more affordable profile, Flor de Pingus, and the most recent, PSI.
